Tuk Tuk Textiles supports and encourages the preservation of the traditional textile culture of the Toba Batak in Northern Sumatra. We are able to provide a reliable product direct from a range of village weaving communities.

These small communities consist of small groups, sometimes only 5-6 traditional Batak houses. They rely on their craft for income. The pleasure that is shown by the weavers both young and very old when interest is shown in their tradition and skills is a joy.

Children and animals all join in the relaxed communal atmosphere keeping the weavers and dyers company.
